Paws Up for Health: Why Vaccinations Matter? 🐾💉
Gabriella DarinShare
At Mercado Pet, we love every dog that walks through our door like they’re part of our own family. Whether it’s for a bath, haircut, or just a nail trim, our mission is to keep every grooming session happy, healthy, and stress-free.
One of the simplest — yet most important — ways to make that happen is by ensuring your pup is up-to-date on their vaccinations.
Why Vaccines Matter?
Vaccines protect dogs from serious illnesses that can spread quickly in places where pets interact — such as parks, daycare, and yes, grooming salons.
Common core vaccines include:
- Rabies (required by law in Ontario)
- Distemper
- Parvovirus
- Adenovirus
These protect not only your pet but also other animals and people in the community.
How Vaccinations Protect Your Dog For Grooming?
A grooming salon is a social space — different pets visit throughout the day, sharing the same environment and tools (which are cleaned and sanitized between uses). While we take every possible hygiene measure, vaccines add an extra layer of protection against contagious diseases that can be transmitted through saliva, sneezes, or even contact with shared surfaces.
Why It Matters for Groomers Safety?
Some illnesses, like rabies, can also pose a risk to humans. Our groomers work hands-on with pets — touching, trimming, and handling them closely — which makes proper vaccination an important safety step for our team. It ensures we can focus on making your dog look and feel their best without worrying about preventable health risks.
A Healthy Pup = A Happy Grooming Experience
When your dog is vaccinated, they’re not just protecting themselves — they’re helping keep every other pet (and person) they meet safe. This means:
- Less stress for your pup during their visit
- Peace of mind for you
- A safer, more enjoyable grooming experience for everyone
Our Policy at Mercado Pet
For everyone’s safety, we ask all grooming clients to have up-to-date vaccinations, especially rabies. If you’re not sure when your dog’s last vaccines were, your veterinarian can provide a record and let you know if it’s time for a booster.
Final Treat 🍪
Think of vaccines as your dog’s invisible shield — keeping them safe while they enjoy all the cuddles, playtime, and pampering they deserve.
Let’s work together to keep tails wagging and grooming sessions worry-free!
